Program Reports:
Baseball (Walt Zdon)
- currently have a total of 155 registered.
Only 75 of them showed up for the actual registration dates. Will look to send out post cards next year
and Vince suggested using schoolsout.com.
Opening Day plans are coming along well.
Dance (Joyce Goslee)
- their Monday night teacher
made the Raven’s cheerleading squad.
This shouldn’t affect her teaching and she may be able to teach 2 nights
next year.
Karate (Don Hoopes)
- is going well, currently have 15 students.
Will be testing the blue belts to advance to green in approx. 3 weeks.
Football (Charlie Dawson) - 124 are registered so far and will have more coming
compared to last year at a total of 110.
April 2nd will be the next registration date.
Swim Team (Vince DiFatta) - the season is wrapping up. Had to spend $2000 for pool rental. Summer swim registration will be held April 15th and
17th.
Scuba (Mike Haslup)
- have a small class on Tuesdays.
Fridays are a little slow, but they now have a small rescue class.
Softball (George Dawson) - Uniforms have been ordered. Currently have 1-7/8 team, 2-9/10 teams, 2-11/12 teams and 1-14/18 team.
Girls Basketball (Linda Heaps) - the season has wrapped up. The 13-15 team won their tournament and the 9-10 team made it to
the final. Linda is currently searching
for someone interested in replacing her as chairperson. She will stay with the program until they
are trained for taking over.
Girls Lax (Tim Rickey) - approximately 125 signed up. The U-19 team is doing well with 25 players. BelAir currently has 1 U-19 team and predict
that they will have 2 next year.
Hickory/Fountain Green also look to have a U-19 team next year. They played the HCC girl’s team
recently. Currently have one 11/12 Myla
team that is playing under Jarrettsville.
Mike Getz (Parks & Rec) - Mike was unable
to attend the meeting.
New Business:
*
Russ suggested that the 3 schools all pitch in to purchase an electronic
billboard.
*
George gave an update on Opening Day: the parade will be from 9-10am
immediately followed by a short ceremony at the Elem. School pavilion. No softball or baseball games will be
scheduled for that day in order to keep people involved in the activities that
will go on until 3:00. This year more
games will be set up and the whole atmosphere will be more family
oriented.
THE NEXT MEETING WILL BE
WEDNESDAY, April 16th, at 7:15PM at the NHES Parks & Rec.
Office.
HAPPY EASTER !!!
