Program Reports
Soccer (Bob Astarita) - Some travel teams are currently playing. Baltimore Co. is no longer letting any travel teams come in unless they have their own insurance. The Rec. presidents are currently looking into this.
Girls Lacrosse (Kay Rickey) - 68 are currently registered. The first coaches meeting will include sports injury training and warm up drills presented by Mike Edge and Gary Lynch. There is at least one full team for every age except for the 11/12 and the 13/14 are a few short. Joppatowne and Churchville are new to the program this year.
Karate (Don Hoopes) - program is doing very well.
Girls Basketball (Linda Heaps) - almost tournament time. Some players are looking for programs that continue through spring. Rob Bailey suggested checking with the Emmorton program, they may offer something between now and summer camps.
Dance (Joyce Goslee & Debbie Hess) - the recital will be held at Kennard Dale. It is currently scheduled for June 25th, with rehearsal being held on the 23rd. If there are no snow days for Kennard Dale this year, there is a possibility that the recital could be moved up to June 10th, with rehearsal being held on the 9th.
Scuba (Mike Haslup & Julie Schott) - working with a large group of boy scouts and 5 new students will be starting.
Adult Basketball (Tom Hebert)- doing well. 20-25 are registered with 16-18 showing each session. Hoping to move up their start time when youth basketball is finished.
Cardio Kickboxing (Aneita Wiegand) - 9 registered and doing fine.
Boy’s Basketball (Aneita Wiegand) - currently in tournaments with the rec. season coming to a close. The 9/10 team had a super season.
Ski Club (Mark Haley) - 63 members currently registered. No problems except for the weather not cooperating.
Swim Team (Vince DiFatta) - doing well. More than ½ have already met their goals for the year. Registration is a little down.
Rob Bailey (Parks & Rec) - The wrestling tournament went very well. Their awards program will be held on Feb. 27th at the High School. Baseball, Softball and Lacrosse will have their opening day parade and ceremonies on April 29th. A 4-cycle lifeguard training class is now being offered.
New Business
* Our current insurer is no longer a supplier of the type of insurance our program needs. Russ is currently working with Ken Jones Insurance Co. to secure a new insurer.
THE NEXT MEETING WILL BE WEDNESDAY, MARCH 15TH.
