Program Reports
Dance (Joyce Goslee) - looking into donating to the high
school auditorium in order to purchase a white curtain. Otherwise, may pay the money to go back to
Kennard Dale because of the lighting, curtain and video issues.
Karate (Don Hoopes) - currently
has 10 returning students and 10 beginners.
Has 3 brown belts trying to move up in rank closer to black belt.
Football (Charlie Dawson) - 2nd
year is coming to a close and went very well.
Two of our teams are going to the championships this weekend (10-12 and
11-13)
Girl‘s Basketball (Linda Heaps/Steve
Jones) - Linda introduced Steve Jones as the new chairperson. Currently have 5 teams, same as last year.
Soccer (Bob Astarita) - Regular
season is finished, with travel teams having one more weekend. Three teams (U9-boys, U10-girls and
U15-girls) won the Northern Region Soccer Tournament.
Afternoon Fitness Swim (Karen Sturtevant) - Sign ups did
not do as well as previous sessions.
Only had 10. This was due to the
limited time of 4 weeks because of pool work being done.
Mike Getz (Parks & Rec) - Mike was unable to attend the meeting, but
left the list of dates that no activities may be held. There will be no activities held Dec.24th
through Jan. 2nd in order to conserve energy in the buildings. There will be no December council meeting.
New Business
* All travel teams must
deposit all revenues through Russ. If
not, they will not be affiliated with the rec. or covered by the rec. for any
liabilities, etc.. Bob will send out an
email to all his travel coaches to inform them of this.
* The custodial fund will
need to be put back in place. This will
pay for overtime custodial hours, mostly on weekends. (indoor soccer,
basketball, fitness swim, etc…) We will
also need to talk to Jarrettsville, Norrisville and Dublin about contributing
as well for their use of our gym. Russ
will assign Dept. 09 for this fund.
* Winter Weekend Swim has
been added as a new program to the rec.
It will be Sundays from 2:30 - 4:30 and will be $35/person.
THE NEXT MEETING WILL BE WEDNESDAY, Jan. 21st, at
7:00PM at the NHES Parks & Rec. Office.
