Meeting Minutes - 10/18/06

 

In Attendance:  Russ Yurek, Dianna Skrocki, Rob Bailey, Linda Heaps, Joyce Goslee, Debbie Hess, Tom Hebert, Mike Haslup,  Julie Schott, Mark Haley, Carla Naumann, Karen Sturdevant, Aneita Wiegand, and Mark Bonititabus.

 

President’s Report: Don Hoopes

*  No President’s Report at this time.

    Treasurers Report: Russell Yurek 

*  Current net worth of  $80,662.91.

*  Concerned with Youth Baseball

Vice Presidents Report: Bob Astarita

*  No Vice President’s Report at this time.

Old Business

*  The minutes from the September meeting were accepted.

*  Still keeping an eye out for land for a Northern Region complex

Program Reports    

Dance (Joyce Goslee & Debbie Hess) - The program is full with 77 registered.

Adult Basketball (Tom Hebert) - 20 currently signed up.  Scheduled to change start time to 8:00pm starting Nov. 2nd if the youth teams are ready to start.

Scuba (Mike Haslup & Julie Schott) -  Class of 6 finishing up now.  They will try and start a snorkeling program for kids that are too young to begin scuba.  Children interested must be at least 8 to snorkel.  Friday nights are currently a little slow.

Ski  (Mark Haley) - currently have 15 signed up, but they are just gearing up.  Hope to hit around 75 participants.  SnowTime in the Festival of BelAir will also be helping by offering registration forms and info. in the store.

Girls Basketball (Linda Heaps) - Will have 5 full teams.  Meeting next week to finalize details and coaching.

Afternoon Fitness Swim (Karen Sturtevant) - 20 are now registered.

Youth Swim Team (Mark Bonititabus) - currently trying to put together a schedule for lifeguard training, but will most likely hold off until January.

Cardio Kickboxing (Aneita Wiegand) - 16 currently registered and will open it up again in January.

Boys Basketball (Aneita Wiegand for John Wiegand) - Currently have 89 registered and will continue to accept players through October.  Practices will begin in November.

Rob Bailey (Parks & Rec) -

*  October 24th is the deadline for nominations for the Sportsmanship Award.

*  Travel try-out start dates have been set for the following.  Any adjustments needed to

    this decision will be made by the first of the year.

            Spring Sports - February 1st

            Fall Sports - June 1st

            Winter Sports - October 1st

*  A directive was given at the presidents meeting that each council is to have an annual

    review of the books by an outside party.

 

New Business

*  Carla Naumann has volunteered to serve as chairperson for the Family Swim program.  A motion was passed to accept.  She would like to begin as soon as possible.  Her first step will be to confirm the appropriate lifeguards and pool operators necessary.  Rob made the suggestion to make just one session from 2pm - 5pm beginning as soon as the program is up and running and last through the last Sunday in April.
