Meeting
Minutes - 10/16/07
In Attendance: Don Hoopes, Bob Astarita, Dianna Skrocki,
Russ Yurek, Mike Getz, Charlie Dawson, George Dawson, Karen Dawson, Joyce
Goslee, Tim Rickey, John Weigand, Aneita Weigand, Julie Schott, Mike Haslup,
Joe Bucci, Mark Haley, Linda Heaps, and Karen Sturdevant.
* The 2009 budget
was discussed.
* Property
negotiations are still going on. They
are currently settling on one piece in
Dublin. The St.Mary’s Rd. property is currently in
the appraisal process. They are also
looking to
purchase a piece in the Madonna area that includes 2 ponds.
* Next year’s annual
dinner will be back at Jarrettsville Gardens.
* Our request for a
new storage/restroom facility looks positive.
If it is granted, we will
have approximately
$400,000 to build this facility. Still
waiting on approval.
* The Mid-Atlantic
sportsmanship award is in process. This
is for an athlete 18 years of
age or younger
and one for a coach as well that displays exemplary sportsmanship.
Forms are
available if you wish to make a nomination.
* Current net worth
of $84,689.37.
* All programs are
in good shape, but please check your numbers and balances.
* At this time,
men’s volleyball and a.m. basketball are not contributing to the head tax.
Bob volunteered
to contact each of these programs chairpersons to remedy this.
* Russ suggested
that the program numbers that are lower on the list be reissued in order
to delete the
vacant spots from programs that are no longer active and keep the report
more
concise. He will evaluate this further
before a final decision is made.
Vice Presidents
Report: Bob Astarita
* Bob notified the
council that Tom Wait has put a cable across the open access to the
fields at
Highland. It is not locked, but it
appears to be so hopefully this will deter
anyone from going
through and causing more damage to the fields.
Please thank Tom
if you see him,
as he did this on his own time and at his own expense.
* Field usage is
going well.
* Meeting minutes
from September were accepted.
* Charlie reported
on the estimate he obtained on a copier for the recreation office. A
basic black &
white copier can be purchased for $2,502 and an additional $600 for one
that faxes and
scans. It can also be leased for $64,80
per month for a 60 month term.
A color copier
would be $5,610 to purchase. All of
these options also have an
additional fee of
$30 per month (covers all maintenance, toner, etc…, but not paper
and staples) and
a fee of $85 for delivery and training.
A motion was made to
purchase the
copier through the general fund and then submit for small grant
reimbursement. Motion was
passed.
* Bulk copies can
still be made by Chris Howard.
* Mike will be
getting extra keys made for the office, but you can still access the office
by going through
the main door and signing in at the school office.
